Lunchtime Concert -Petronella von Wielligh (flute)

FreePetronella von Wielligh was born in South Africa and completed
her BMus (Hons) degree at the University of Pretoria, during which
time she was awarded the South African Music Prize. She was coprincipal
flautist with the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban for
several years before moving to the UK. She continued her career as
flautist in this country and she has worked with several orchestras,
including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Milton Keynes
City Orchestra and more recently Opera Project with a regular season
at Longborough Opera Festival in Gloucestershire. She has done a
varied amount of chamber work, including concerts at Farnham
Castle, Loseley House, Knowle House and St John’s Smith Square.
Her critically acclaimed CD “Different Moods” is broadcast regularly on
Classic FM. She is a distinguished teacher in the area and teaches
privately and at several independent schools.
