□ Introduction of the Joyful Harmonica Ensemble
Joyful Harmonica Ensemble was founded in May 2009 as an ensemble for the disabled composed of 9 students and graduates from the Daegu Sungbo School of Special Education, which is a public special school.
With the 4th Sorhaemo Regular Concert in 2010, the ensemble became known to the public. Its performance is being recognized by receiving impressive awards such as the silver medal from the National Disabled Youth Art Festival in 2012 and 2013, the grand prizes from 2012 Rainbow Art Festival and 2015 National Disabled Happy Festival hosted by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, and the 3rd prize in the Adult Small Ensemble from the 4th Seoul International Harmonica Festival and the 3rd prize in Duet from the 12th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival.
Starting with the first regular concert in January 2016, the Joyful Harmonica Ensemble has held regular concerts four times until now and is continuing with its activities such as releasing its first album in December 2016.
The First School-Based Enterprise in the Area of Culture and Art
As one of the school curriculum, the school-based enterprise is utilized in the field practice of students and has a goal of creating profits through business. It is mainly operated in colleges, vocational high schools and special schools.
Joyful Harmonica Ensemble, which is the school-based enterprise at the Daegu Sungbo School of Special Education, is improving social awareness towards the disabled through its performances. By providing an environment in which the disabled can greatly practice their artistic skills, it is supporting the disabled to take pride in them.
