Donald Trunk Book Reading with Juliet Coombe

20th May 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

In 2017, Sri Lanka’s swimming elephants hit international headlines when not one but several elephants were brought back by the Navy from about 10 to 25 miles out to sea. Inspired by this phenomenon, children’s book artist Janet Anderton decided to draw the amazing adventures of Donald Trunk, the Sri Lankan swimming elephant with grandiose dreams of escaping to the Nicobar Islands, the real paradise, or so he thinks. The story is full of an array of wonderful characters of all shapes and sizes – a butterfly like Jiminy Cricket, a scary matriarch of the elephant herd, an Eden-like sly cobra Satarnia, a singing mermaid, the unique Nicobar pigeon, a blue whale, jumping dolphins – all with incredibly important messages for Donald and the reader. Join the artist, writer and butterfly for a free afternoon of entertainment, tea and advice on how to write your first book at All Saint’s Church at 3.30pm on Sunday 20th of May. Tea and Cake afterwards in the café with a fun QA & lots of prizes for the kids and even a few for the adults.
