All Saints - Giving to Missions

We have a tradition within All Saints of giving to a variety of organizations; international, national, and local.

Internationally, our priority is to support practical action for Third World development, in particular we are supporting Water Aid, AIDS (USPG - Health care, through funding hospitals, HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and training for medical personnel.), Christian Aid, Amnesty International and Kingston Deanery Matabele Link.

Nationally, we support the Church Army, The Children's Society, Rethink (mental health support) and various homeless projects.

Locally, we support the Oxygen Project, Kinston Churches Action on Homelessness, Welcare and Kaleidoscope (a project for drug addicts run by the Bunyan Baptist Church).

We also respond to urgent needs, after the tsunami we raised funds which have enabled a community in Sri Lanka to build a boat.

How do we raise funds?

  • The Church Council has agreed that the church would give £5,000 to Missions in 2007
  • The Craft Fair in May has traditionally been our main fund raising event. In 2007 we are going to hold a summer fete on Saturday 30th June
  • Each Autumn we hold a bazaar for a single cause, in 2006 it was for a project supporting young people in Uganda, the two previous years were for the Church Army Women's Marylebone Project and Water Aid
  • Our 2006 Lent Appeal, in conjunction with St John's, raised £2,273 for eye operations at the Hebron Eye Unit (an outpost of the Jerusalem Eye Hospital). This unit treats patients who cannot get to the main hospital because of the Wall.
A group of retired people knit blankets for emergency relief causes while enjoying the company and conversation in the church on Tuesday mornings.

Regular coffee mornings are held each Saturday for a variety of good causes
